Description

We believe in the best quality at a good price but not necessarily the lowest.  All analog transfers are done with a professional grade digital imaging Matrox card from Germany costing several thousand dollars.  The analog and "digital8" transfers produce 640x480 resolution using S-Video.  The digital transfers (miniDV, miniHDV) produce 720x480 and 1440x1080.
DVD/Blu-rays burned disks only have a life expectancy of about 15 years.  This is because the burned dyes in the material actually decay.  Instead of dyes that can deteriorate over time, the M-disc uses a ceramic material that is much more permanent and it actually burns a hole with the laser in the material and has a life expectancy of 1000 years..  Their motto is it burns your videos in stone.  However, the costs of these disks are 10 times the price of a standard DVD/Blu-ray disk.  But they can be read with the normal DVD/Blu-ray reader.  Flash drives, also have approximately a 15 year life but it is determined by the last time the file was written.  These are electrically charged material that will decay over time.  However, that will not matter if it's copied onto a computer and backed up regularly.
With the fact that you can buy a Blu-ray/DVD/flash drive player from Walmart for that will play all videos in MP4, these are stored on a single layer M-disc Blu-ray(25g) in MP4 format.  A 32/64 GB USB 3.0 Flash drive is included as an extra copy.
The flash drive will be mailed first so that the buyer can view all the files.  Once the files are approved from the buyer the tapes and the permanent M-disc will be returned media rate to the same address.
Each video will produce two MP4 files.  One which is just image stabilized and one which is image stabilized and color/brightness corrected.  The image stabilization will remove handshake and is processed with a very powerful computer.  The color/brightness correction is nice if you are recording in a dark room.  However, the color/brightness correction is only stored on the flash drive because it can be reproduced later easily.  There is no need to store it on the permanent M-disc.
So you need to send your tapes to the following address "media mail" which will cost .83 or less if not VHS.
Central Virginia Video
3641 Campbell Ave.
Lynchburg, VA 24501
The price includes copying 10 tapes with image stabilization to a supplied Blu-ray M-disc that will hold between 15 and 30 hours of video depending on the image complexity of your camcorder.  This this can be played with a Blu-ray/DVD/flash drive player from Walmart.  An additional color/brightness corrected version will also be supplied on the flash drive.
We want all our videos to be read by our grandkids from this M-disc without errors after we are gone.
